তবে কিছু কিছু sentence-এই দুই বা ততোধিক noun বা antecedent থাকার কারণে pronoun- টি কোনটিকে নির্দেশ করেছে তা স্পষ্ট বোঝা যায় না। pronoun- এর এ ধরনের অস্পষ্ট ব্যবহারই, unclear pronoun reference

ব্যাখ্যা :এখানে pronoun it- এর স্পষ্ট noun antecedent নেই যে কারণে পাঠ করা নিশ্চিত বুঝতে পারে না যে, sharmim কোন জিনিসটি (gold বা almiran)তালা বন্ধ করেছিল।
এখানে pronoun reference-it ত্রুটিপূর্ণ কারণ তার দুটি antecedent(gold almirah) রয়েছে। এ ধরনের ত্রুটি যুক্ত হয় অস্পষ্ট pronoun reference পাঠকদেরকে সংশয়ে ফেলতে পারে । সেক্ষেত্রে পাঠকরা প্রকৃত অর্থ উদ্ধার করতে ব্যর্থ হতে পারে। এ ক্ষেত্রে সঠিক উত্তর হবে।

আবার ২য় Ssentence - এ playing in the field-এ phrase -টি "boy"noun-টির পরে বসে উক্ত no un সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য প্রদান করে। "playing in the field "phrase-টি২য়sentence -এmodifier.
Note:(i)Determiners,adjectives এবং noun-adjective modifier এর কাজ করে।
(ii)Modifier সব সময় noun phrasc - এর head word- এর পূর্বে বা পরে বসে।
অনেক সময় Adverbial phrase-এর modifier থাকে।
